How Can swelling And Bruise In The Cheek Be Treated?
Hi I got hut by a sledge while on holiday at Xmas time, I got a crack on the cheekbone as I was sledging down a girl was walking uphill waving her sledge. My cheek swelled up but did not really bruise but it is still sore to touch. I did not go for an x-ray which now I wish I had but it s too late now. Is there anything I can do.
Trauma on the cheekbone need some evaluation to make sure that the structures around especially the eye is not effected. If you have bruise in the eye area, changes of vision or difficulty using the jaw (difficulty chewing and swallowing) then you will need to see a doctor immediately.
If you have none of the above symptoms then you might still be fine and taking some pain killers to help with pain might be good. Meanwhile the time is the best healer and it should start to feel and look much better in a week time.
If you notice that you are not better in a week time or you are getting any worse you will need to see a doctor.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. Antoneta Zotaj, General & Family Physician
